Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a dangerous bill that would invalidate our best chance at climate action, with 247 (239 Republicans and 8 Democrats) voting for the bill and 180 (4 Republicans and 176 Democrats) voting against. The bill allows states to simply opt-out of the EPA's Clean Power Plan—America's first-ever national limits on carbon pollution from our existing power plants.
With this vote, the House undermined one of the biggest steps we could take to boost clean energy. But Rep. Curbelo broke from his party, voted against this alarming bill, and put climate action above politics.
With more attacks on climate action coming in the future, we need to thank Rep. Curbelo for this strong-willed stance.
Thank you for voting against H.R. 2042
