America is now the world's largest natural gas producer—and you may be surprised to find out how much of that production takes place on federal and tribal lands in New Mexico. Not only is New Mexico in the top two for oil and gas production from federal lands, it has the unfortunate distinction of leading the nation in wasted natural gas from these lands as well—to the tune of more than $100 million worth of gas a year.
The Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has proposed a rule putting strict limits on this pollution—and most of New Mexico's congressional delegation stood up to support it.
Thank Senators Udall and Heinrich, and Representatives LujŠn and Lujan Grisham for raising their voices in support of strong climate action.
Thank you for supporting critical methane limits
