Trouble in Texas: A Free Pass for Oil and Gas

Please enable images

In Texas, local communities have long held the right to set their own safety and environmental standards for oil & gas activities within their borders. But a new law, HB 40, was passed by both legislative chambers and signed into law by Governor Abbott. It puts that local autonomy at risk—but your elected official did the right thing, and stood against it.

This is a complete restructuring of Texas government. It drastically impacts a city’s ability to protect the health, public safety, and property of Texans who live in areas with heavy drilling activity.

Thank elected officials who stood against this bill for their opposition to having local voices stifled by the state legislature.
