North Carolina is a clean energy leader—in 2015, we ranked #2 in the nation for new solar development—and the clean energy industry is creating jobs, building businesses, and saving North Carolina families money.
In recent years, our state's friendly clean energy business climate has come under attack. Opposition groups—backed by out-of-state fossil fuels interests—and their allies in the Governor McCrory’s Department of Environmental Quality and the North Carolina legislature have proposed policy changes that would destabilize our state's growing clean energy economy.
Make sure your Department of Environmental Quality and elected officials know that North Carolinians want clean energy to be a priority.
Protect North Carolina's clean energy industry this session
Dear [Decision Maker],
I'm writing to ask that you protect North Carolina's friendly clean energy business climate and our state's growing clean energy industry. North Carolina clean energy businesses added more than 3,100 jobs in 2015 and now provide more than 26,000 jobs state-wide that help put food on the table for thousands of North Carolina working families. Last year, North Carolina's clean energy industry generated $7 billion in revenues for our state's economy. And this growing industry is saving our families and businesses money. Electricity from conventional sources is getting more expensive. Clean energy is helping to slow these rising energy costs. In fact, clean energy has saved North Carolina electricity customers $162 million since 2007. And while clean energy industry continues to grow, so will the savings for North Carolina families and businesses, with the potential for nearly half a billion dollars in additional savings over the next 15 years. Clean energy businesses are creating jobs, attracting investments, and strengthening our state's economy all while helping deliver more of the electricity we need in ways that reduce risks to our air and water and help protect the health of our children and families. Please support North Carolina's competitive clean energy industry and our state's friendly clean energy business climate.
