In June, Governor Wolf announced that his administration will finalize standards to cut air pollution from new or expanding natural gas operations, which will reduce emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and volatile organic compounds, which cause significant health risks to all of us, including the most vulnerable — our children.
Now, we’re turning our attention to the thousands of existing sources of methane pollution that are impacting the health and lives of Pennsylvanians every single day.
Methane is a major contributor to the climate impacts we are already seeing today, which is why strong and comprehensive action is critical in the fight against climate change and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Pennsylvania. With the federal government rolling back environmental protections of all kinds, state leadership is more important than ever, particularly when it comes to such a powerful climate pollutant like methane.
It is critical that Governor Wolf specifically address methane pollution from the thousands of existing sources of natural gas wells, pipelines and infrastructure in Pennsylvania. In so doing, he will protect Pennsylvania families and communities from the public health and climate impacts of this pollution.
Please take a moment to ask Governor Wolf to move forward swiftly and protect Pennsylvania’s families.
