Protect Our Coast. Protect Their Future.

Take ACTION

Tell the Louisiana Legislature to prioritize coastal restoration funds!

In 2017, Governor John Bel Edwards declared a state of emergency, saying "The Louisiana coast is in a state of crisis that demands immediate and urgent action.”

Despite this ongoing and urgent need, since 2014, millions of dollars have been removed annually from the Coastal Fund to help balance the state’s budget. That’s millions of dollars that should have been used to protect and restore our disappearing coast. But you can help.

Louisiana closed out fiscal year 2016-2017 with a surplus of $120 million in state funds. By law, these surplus dollars cannot be used to balance this year’s budget – but they can be used to replenish the Coastal Fund.

If the state is distributing surplus dollars, some of those should be put back where they came from and are badly needed. When our state is losing a football field of land every 100 minutes, we need every dollar possible to protect our coast.

Stand up for Louisiana today: Urge your state representatives to apply state surplus dollars to the Coastal Fund!
